About Moncarapacho

This town nestles in the hills just north of the coast, about 7km to the north-east of Olhão. Moncarapacho is the oldest known administrative district of the area, first mentioned in records in 1471, and it is a prime example of an Algarvian settlement in the Barrocal (as the hills to the north of the coast are known). Beyond it to the west is the hill of Monte São Miguel, which dominates the skyline.
